Issues of The Heart Jeremiah 17:9

“the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.........”

Read Psalm 19:14—“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.” The heart in Hebrew is defined as the seat of man’s affections, will, emotions, and intellect. It is that spiritual element within that dictates our words, thoughts, and actions. Jeremiah in this text informs the Child of God, of the dangers of an unregenerate heart. A heart that has not been brought into conformity with the Will of God. This heart is deceitful, wicked, and unknown by the one in whom it resides. We need regeneration. We must be born again. Pray from your heart—that today you would desire with everything within you to be pure in thought, word, and deed.
