“The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.” Genesis 39:2
Often times in life we as believers endure inglorious trials and turbulent storms, but these are God’s tools for strengthening and refining us. At this point in Joseph’s life, he’s a teenager transitioning into adulthood. He has been hated and envied by his brothers, thrown in a pit, sold twice into slavery, and he ends up in Egypt as a slave to Potiphar. At a time when most would question God’s abiding presence; Joseph knew the Lord was with him. The evidence of God’s nearness caused Joseph to prosper as a slave in his master’s house. The phrase, “ the Lord was with Joseph,” indicated that God cared for, protected, and blessed Joseph. God is faithful and He shines brightest in our darkness.
