“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
A gentleman recently asked me,”Pastor Claiborne, why are most people in the church merely hearers and not doers of the Word.” I simply replied, “because most refuse to Yield.” The word yield simply means to submit or surrender oneself to another. The Apostle Paul in this text gives a two-fold yielding principle. First, we must not yield our physical instruments(mouth, arms, legs, etc.) to commit sin or unrighteous acts. Secondly, he declares the believer must yield, submit, or surrender, themselves and their members to God for righteousness. God desires to use our bodies for works of righteousness to bring glory and honor to His name in the earth realm. Are you tired of using your body as an instrument to offend God? Are you willing to YIELD to Jesus today? You must choose to yield to Christ. You are to yield with all of your heart to the power, the presence, and the provision of the Lord Jesus Christ. Who has the “right of way” in your life? Bow before the Lord and surrender all of you to all of Him today.
